We are delighted to be back again for 2012. This year our programme
has grown and matured with a little tough love from our friends. We are
proud to present some of the most exciting and vibrant artists from Cork,
Ireland and beyond. We have five busy days of theatre, dance, visual art
and music that’s sure to stay with you.

This year we are the crossroads of art, memory and architecture, artists
are re-imagining city centre spaces and we have split our programme
between the iconic Elysian Tower and numerous off-site locations.
Whether you are taking in world class theatre or dance, joining a love-in
at the Gresham Metropole or donning a set of state of the art video
goggles and encountering the mysterious Faruk, we are sure you will
have a unique Solstice experience.

Solstice is about community, it’s an opportunity to gather, to find new
ways of being together. We are taking responsibility, we are building
something new. We want to connect more with the city this year, to
reach out and start a conversation with the people of Cork. We are
bringing some really exciting artists to town, some will stay for the whole
month of June as part of our THIS IS TOUGH LOVE EVERYBODY
residency and even more will join us for Solstice but all of them will have
something to offer to our city by the Lee. Ireland might still be filled with
doom and gloom, things are difficult out there, we know this but the last
thing to leave the ship before it sinks is Hope and we have barrels of
that to offer! Maybe we won’t sink after all, well not if Solstice can have
anything to do with it.

Cork City, giving emerging artists a unique chance to present their work
as part of Solstice 2012.
